How Does a Power Shower Heater Work?

The Power Shower was a product manufactured by Paha Que'. The company manufactures family tents, screens, showers and shelters. As of November 2011, Paha Que' no longer produces the Power Shower or the Power Shower heater due to the lack of demand and cost of producing the unit, a company representative says. However, they stand by the effectiveness of the shower.
  1. Power Shower

    • The Power Shower is a portable shower unit. It consists of 5-gallon bucket, battery-powered pump, battery charger, 8-foot hose and shower nozzle. The pump and hose are attached to the lid. To use the unit, fill the bucket with water and set it out in the sun to get warm. Once the water is warm, hang up the shower nozzle and flip on the switch and the pressurized water will come out. The water flow can be controlled with your thumb by pressing a switch on the nozzle.

    Power Shower Heater

    • The Power Shower heater is an optional accessory that will heat up the water on a camp stove. To use it, unscrew the sprayer hose from the Power Shower unit and install the heater hose in its place. The heater hose contains a copper coil from which two hoses emerge. One hose plugs into the Power Shower unit in place of the sprayer hose. The other hose screws onto the shower head. Place the copper coil onto the burner of your camp stove and turn on the burner. Water will flow through the Power Shower, over the warm coils and back through the other hose. It takes at least two cycles of water through the bucket before it gets warm enough to use.

    Considerations

    • The Power Shower is desirable because it's portable, but it's not quite as useful when you are using the optional Power Shower heater accessory. This is because you must place your camp stove relatively close to where you will be using the Power Shower unit. This may make it awkward to use, especially if you are using it to shower and want some privacy. Take care not to let the camp stove and propane powering the camp stove get too wet.

    Uses

    • The Power Shower heater can also be used for other tasks other than for showering when you need hot water. Use it to wash dishes, clothes or even to hose down your children before they track dirt into the tent. It can also be used at home to wash your car or lawn furniture.
