How to Install Submersible Pond Lighting Rockscapes

Submersible pond lights come in a variety of designs and styles, including lights that look like rocks. The lights are sealed, so they can be fully submersed under water to illuminate the pond at night. The installation process only takes minutes and you can rearrange the lights at any time. Once installed, the lights operate by automatically turning on at dusk and off at dawn, or based on a timer.

Instructions

Locate an area for the transformer. The transformer must be mounted at least 39 inches above ground, and must be visible to the sun if you want the lights to operate according to sunrise and sunset. The transformer has a power cord, so ensure the cord will reach an electrical outlet.

Mount the transformer. Depending on where you're mounting it, use the appropriate screws. You'll need masonry anchors or 8-by-1-inch round head wood screws. Drill the holes for the screws, mount the transformer, then screw it into place. Do not plug it in yet.

Place the lights into your pond. If your lights have sensor cords that transmit to the transformer, then cover the cords with mud on the bottom of the pond to prevent damage to the cords. Adjust them as you prefer. If you need to move the lights later, unplug them first, then adjust the lights. The lights can be moved as often as you like.

Plug the transformer’s power cord into the electrical outlet.
