How to Hook Up a TH415 Double L Thermostat

The Double L Group specializes in the manufacturing and sale of products designed for the agricultural sector. Double L has several subdivisions for its products depending on the application, including goat, poultry, lawn, garden and swine divisions. From the swine division comes the TH415 thermostat, a single-stage thermostat with corrosion-resistant sensors housed in an enclosure resistant to airborne debris, contaminants and high humidity. Hooking up a TH415 thermostat follows the same procedures as standard domestic thermostat installations.

  • Spirit level
  • Drill

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the power at your electrical panel terminal that controls the heating unit or cut the power to the heating unit itself.

    • 2

Remove the four No.1 Phillips screws from the rear of the TH415 thermostat. Remove the rear cover and set aside. Insert two “AA” batteries in the thermostat.

    • 3

Position the rear panel of the thermostat on the surface where you will mount it. Level the TH415 on the wall with a spirit level and use a pencil to mark the four mounting holes.

    • 4

Drill a 3/16-inch hole at the locations marked on the wall. Drill a 2-inch diameter hole in the center of the two 3/16-inch holes. You will run the wires from the thermostat through this hole. Alternatively, drill a 1/2-inch hole and increase its diameter to 2 inches with a utility knife. The thermostat will conceal the hole when mounted.

    • 5

Insert the four supplied plastic anchors in the 3/16-inch holes until they are flush with the mounting surface.

    • 6

Pull the wires from the rear of the thermostat and thread them through the hole in the rear panel. Reattach the rear panel to the thermostat.

    • 7

Pull the wires from the heating unit through the 2-inch hole in the mounting surface. The TH415 has two sets of terminals on the rear panel divided in a group of three and a group of four. The wires from the heating unit will have tags marked as follows: “G,” “W,” “RC,” “RH,” “Y,” “B,” and “O.” The terminals on the rear of the TH415 will have the same markings.

    • 8

Loosen the terminal screws on the rear of the TH415 enough to connect the wires from the heating unit. Connect the wires from the heating unit to their terminals on the rear of the TH415. You must lift the black terminal shields protecting the terminals to access the terminal screws. Secure the wires to the terminals with the terminal screws.

    • 9

Feed any excess length of wire through the 2-inch hole in the mounting surface to prevent interference. Secure the thermostat to the mounting surface with the four screws included with the mounting hardware.

    • 10

Locate the sets of switches on the right side of the TH415 marked “HE/HG” and “HP/STD.” Set the “HE/HG” switch to “HE” if using an electrical heating system and set it to “HG” if using a gas heating system. Set the “HP/STD” switch to “HP” if using a single-stage heat pump. Set it to “STD” if using a standard heating system.

    • 11

Power up the heating unit or restore power at the electrical panel.
