Build a flat wooden platform for your galvanized steel grain bin to sit upon. The wooden platform keeps it from touching the ground and getting the grains stored inside moist. Make sure the wooden platform and your steel grain bin are placed under a roof to keep the top dry.
Lay out the floor pieces of the galvanized steel grain bin kit over the wooden platform that you built in step 1. Assemble the grain bin's floor pieces per the manufacturer's instructions.
Stack the six bands that make up the walls of the grain bin per the manufacturer's instructions.
Attach the six bands to each other following the manufacturer's instructions. You will need a hammer and drill to complete this.
Build the roof of the galvanized steel grain bin following manufacturer instructions. Use a ladder to reach the roof, and a hammer and drill to securely tighten each piece in place.
Install the door to the galvanized steel grain bin using the manufacturer's instructions. You will need to use a drill and the screws included in the galvanized steel grain bin kit.
Open the door to the silo.
Install the dryer, chutes and grain head per the manufacturer's instructions using a hammer, drill and the screws included in the grain bin kit. The dryer will help keep the grain from getting moist, the chutes will help you insert the grain in the bin, and the grain head will help you dispense the grain when it is ready for use.
Place one tablet of phosphine per every 227 kilograms of grain that the galvanized steel grain bin holds anywhere inside the bin. The tablets help fumigate the bin and keep it fresh.
Clean the inside of the galvanized steel grain bin using a wet cloth. Then dry the inside of the bin with the dry cloth. Ensure the inside of the grain bin is completely dry before storing any grain inside, otherwise the inside of the bin can become humid and allow the grain to grow fungi.
Fill any holes that occur over time with wax to keep the grain from getting moist and becoming contaminated.
