Instructions

    • 1

Sweep the driveway with a broom to remove dirt from the area. Pour white vinegar onto the rust stain and let it soak on the rust for 10 minutes. After the allotted time has passed, scrub the rust with a stiff-bristled brush broom. Continue applying vinegar and scrubbing until the rust is no longer visible. Rinse the asphalt driveway with a water hose. Continue to Step 2 if the rust is still present.

    • 2

Boil 1/2 gallon of water and add a packet of unsweetened lemonade mix. Slowly pour enough of the lemonade on the rust to cover it completely. Scrub the area with a brush broom. Continue adding more lemonade and scrubbing until you have removed the rust. Rinse the driveway clean with a water hose. Continue with the remaining steps if the rust is still visible.

    • 3

Saturate the rust with distilled water. Create a paste in a small container with 2 cups of flour and 1/2 cup of an iron-removing chemical. Spread a layer of paste over the rust. Cover the entire rust area and 1/4 inch around the rust with the paste.

Cover the paste with plastic wrap and secure the edges down with tape. Leave the paste to dry for 24 to 48 hours. After the allotted time has passed, remove the plastic wrap and scrape the paste off the driveway. Scrub the area with a scrub brush and warm, soapy water. Rinse the driveway clean with a water hose.
