Two different sizes are how sealcoating tips are sold: a 1/4-inch tip and a 3/8-inch tip. These two different sizes are compatible with different sealcoating systems. So prior to purchasing a seal coating tip, you should ensure that the tip matches the recommended size for your system.
Sealcoating tips are also rated by degree of spread and pounds per square inch (PSI). The number is displayed as Spread/PSI. Most sealcoating spray tips have a spread of 80 degrees, which means that the nozzle on the tip is bent at an 80-degree angle. Sealcoating tips usually come with PSI ratings of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 70. You should attempt to match the PSI rating of your tip with that of your sealcoating system.
Standard sealcoating spray tips are manufactured out of hardened steel. Hardened steel tips are affordable and are used for most home sealcoating jobs.
Manufactured using other materials, including stainless steel, ceramic and polymer, these alternative types of sealcoating spray tips are generally used for sealcoating jobs that use higher PSI ratings and generally cost more than the standard hardened steel tips.
