Patio Paver Styles

Patio pavers offer different features such as material, shape and color. When choosing your pavers or planning your patio, take all features into consideration to get the ideal look for you.
  1. Material

    • The three basic types of pavers are concrete, natural stone and brick, which is also referred to as clay. Stone pavers offer a more natural look and often a higher price tag. Concrete pavers are ideal for use in wet climates or around a pool. They are also very durable and have low maintenance requirements. You can set brick pavers in mortar or sand.

    Colors

    • Color selection is ever increasing in all patio paver materials. Common colors include brick red and various grays. Natural stone pavers will come in colors common to the stone itself, such as slate blues.

    Shapes

    • The most common paver shapes are square, rectangle and rounded versions of the two, sometimes known as oblong. Hexagon and octagon are also common. Other shapes you may find are keyhole, half-circles, circles or irregular shapes. Natural stone pavers often are cut, but allowed to retain natural shapes. There are also interlocking pavers, which make installing a pattern simpler.
