How to Configure Concrete for the Floor

Configuring the concrete for a concrete floor is very important. If the floor is going to be in a garage or basement or may have a sub-floor placed over it it needs to be smooth. When you are preparing the concrete for a smooth surface you need to use a concrete with fewer pieces of large conglomerate rock. This helps keep the surface smooth. You also need to take more time when you are screeding the floor. This is the leveling process and needs to be done with a very specific tool.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the concrete mix and the water into the mixer. Turn on the mixer and mix. The concrete will have a more liquid consistency than normal concrete. Dump it into the wheelbarrow.

    • 2

Transport the concrete to the area that it will be poured into. Pour the concrete and move it around with the shovels and hoe. This spreads the concrete.

    • 3

Continue spreading the concrete out until it has reached a level that was selected by the frame that was installed.

    • 4

Screed the middle of the surface first. This way you pull the concrete to the edges. When you get it to the edges use the trowel to level the corners and edges. Continue screeding the surface to work on a very level surface.
