How to Dry Bricks

Drying bricks the proper way allows them to hold their shape properly and stay together. When you dry bricks, it is important to be patient. You can dry bricks yourself and finish your construction project. Drying brick consists of waiting for them to dry completely and then baking them. Once this has finished, you will have dried your bricks successfully.

      Place the bricks on a pallet after they have been formed and aged for two days. This allows the bricks to become a homogeneous mixture so that the chances of cracks are lessened. Allow the bricks to dry to a leather hardness for two days.

      Retouch your bricks to correct any odd shapes or scratches from forming the bricks. You can use your hands or a shaping tool to touch the brick. This will allow the bricks to dry faster.

      Place the bricks in the drying area for two weeks during a dry season and four weeks in a rainy season. The bricks need to be completely dried.

      Place the bricks apart from each other when they are completely dry and put rice hulls between them. Set a slow fire under the bricks and bake them for a week.
