Concrete and stone pavers have many uses. They are relatively inexpensive and you can buy them in bulk or singly at your local home improvement center. Learning the different uses of pavers will help you decide how you will use these affordable stones in your home and garden.
  1. Paver Patio

    • Concrete or stone pavers can go in almost any backyard to form a patio. Paver patios are sturdy and you can be install them on most level areas. You must first excavate the ground where the patio is going to be located. You will need to remove approximately 7 to 9 inches of soil. Level the dirt and then fill the space with gravel and sand. The pavers can then sit in place and you can fill the joints with sand.

    Paver Planter Boxes

    • Planter boxes can hold a variety of plants, both edible and decorative. A planter box can add a lot of warmth and curb appeal to your home. However, planter boxes can be expensive to purchase. You can use paver stones to make an inexpensive planter box. Stand up four pavers so that they form the four walls of the planter. Apply a small amount of construction adhesive between the pavers so that they stick together. Glue a fifth paver to the bottom of the planter box. Let the adhesive dry overnight and then use it as a planter box.

    Paver Driveway

    • Most driveways are of concrete or asphalt. Replacing your typical driveway with a unique paver patio will give your home a touch of class. You make a paver driveway in the same manner as a paver patio, first excavating the dirt and then leveling it.. Once you prepare the ground, install layers of sand and gravel and then carefully lay the patio pavers on top of the prepared site. You should spread the sand between the paver joints.

    Paver Crafts

    • There are many different ways that you can use patio pavers, some very creative. Paint the pavers with outdoor paints. Lay the pavers in a garden to create a whimsical stepping stone path. Certain types of pavers have shallow divots. You can fill the divots with wax and a candle wick. Let the wax dry and then use the paver as an outdoor candle. Paint odd-shaped pavers and use them as doorstops.
