How to Kill Grass on a Gravel Road

A gravel driveway is an effective alternative to concrete or asphalt. They are relatively inexpensive compared to traditional driveways but require a little more maintenance. A common problem experienced by gravel driveway owners is grass and weeds sprouting between the gaps in the stones. If not addressed quickly, the vegetation spreads quickly, covering large areas of the drive. This leads to more extensive repair as the grass/weeds further displace the gravel. To avoid an unsightly driveway, apply a weedkiller regularly to prevent the growth from spreading.

Instructions

    • 1

Wearing gloves to protect against the harsh chemicals, mix the recommended amount of weedkiller with water in a garden sprayer, according the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 2

Pump up the garden sprayer to build up adequate pressure to dispense the product.

    • 3

Spray any grass or weeds with the weedkiller, following the label instructions for dosage. It typically takes a few days for the weedkiller to take hold and kill the unwanted vegetation.

    • 4

Spray the driveway regularly to maintain control of the grass/weeds. The bigger the weeds get, the more damage they can cause.
