How to Landscape Rock & Gravel

Hardscape is the part of the landscape that is nonliving. It can be complemented with living plants such as bushes or flowers. To create a pleasant landscape it is important to create a well functioning design by combining gravel and rocks with drought-resistant plants.

Instructions

      Weed the area or remove any grass and then till the soil flat with a tiller.

      Be sure to create a small downward slope from the house to lead water from the house's foundation.

      Build a rock garden in the focal point with a variety of sizes or types of rocks.

      Fill the sections surrounding the rocks with a good topsoil. It is best to allow the topsoil to settle naturally for a couple of days. Plant small evergreens in the topsoil.

      Dig out a pathway to a depth of your choice plus 1 inch.

      Fill a 1-inch smooth layer of gravel to the bottom then place in the paver stones (fill the spaces between the paver stones with gravel).
