What Is a Turret Stock Picker?

A turret stock picker is a kind of forklift in which the person driving the stock picker is picked up on the lift to get to supplies that can't normally be reached from a ladder or normal height. A variety of manufacturers market many different turret stock pickers.
  1. Height & Width

    • The higher a stock picker will lift its operator, the more popular it is. Some warehouses like Costco and Sam's Club, stack products extremely high, as they have a lot of merchandise to sell. Warehouses also have large items to sell, such as furniture, fireplaces, and pools. Be sure to select the stock picker that adequately suits your needs.

    Safety

    • Safety is important with any heavy machinery, and a stock picker is no different. Some of the key safety features are speed of the machine, rear traffic detection, and wheel traction. Be sure to look for safety features when the fork is extended, as this is extremely important when operating.

    Upkeep

    • Like all machinery, stock pickers require upkeep to make sure they are functioning properly and are not safety hazards. Be sure to run the on-board diagnostics every once in a while, and if need be, get replacement parts for the machine. Make sure to follow the recommended upkeep in the manual to avoid major issues down the road.
