How to Create Trash Hauling Zones in Your Town

There are several ways to go about creating a trash-hauling zone in your neighborhood. For most neighborhoods, there are garbage collection vehicles that will come and haul trash from your home each week. If you want to create a zone for hauling trash, contact your government trash service or a commercial trash hauling company to assist you in creating a trash zone.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to your city's website and search for waste removal or waste management in your area. Many cities contain all the information regarding trash removal zones on their websites, including where they are located, how often they are collected and which company collects them. This will also include recycling services, if there are any.

Contact the city department and discuss creating a new zone. Since the city also provides the containers, you are better off contacting them directly before contacting the trash removal or recycling contractor. Explain that you would like to add a trash-hauling zone to your neighborhood. If there's a need for a zone, your request will be taken into consideration and you will not have to pay for these services as they are a part of taxes. It may take some time, however, before the trash-haul site is set up.

Contact the trash removal company if the city deems that there is little to no need for a trash hauling zone in your area and will not provide services. You can obtain quotes from commercial trash collection or recycling collection companies. They will often provide the necessary bins, for a cost, and can collect them as often as necessary. Obtain a quote from the company and seek out other quotes. Select the one that accommodates your budget and considering the type of service you want, such as frequency of collection, recycling or trash, large items and other factors.

Determine where the trash-hauling zone will be. If this is a private trash collection company, the bins will have to be collected from your property, and most cities will require that they do not obstruct alleyways or roadways. Discuss the collection process with your trash removal company to ensure the bins are placed is an accessible location.
