Create a lighting plan. Walk around the yard and look for outstanding features to highlight. Include walkways, driveways, steps that can become a nighttime tripping hazard, dramatic architectural features and trees and bushes to highlight.
Attach the leads from the cable to the screws on the back of the water-resistant power pack. Mount a Phillips screwdriver bit into the chuck of a cordless drill. Slip one of the mounting screws through each of the four mounting holes in the power pack. Mount the power pack outside by screwing the mounting screws.into an exterior wall with the cordless drill. Plug the cord from the optical sensor into the receptacle in the transformer. Plug the power pack into an exterior outlet.
Turn on the power pack in order to test the fixtures while installing them to ensure the lights are working properly. Lay out the cable, routing it according to the lighting plan. Install the fixtures by pushing them into the ground. Connect the fixtures to the cable by inserting the cable into the fixture's connector and squeezing the connector together until it locks. Cover the cable with mulch or soil for a cleaner look.
