How to Landscape With Pebblestone

Landscaping does not have to include just traditional bark mulch and plants. You can use rocks and pebbles to create interesting looks, as well. If you want something different in your yard, use pebblestones as an added feature. They are smooth, rounded stones similar to river rocks, and are small enough to fit several in the palm of your hand. The pebblestones come in shades of natural colors, including grey, brown, red and white. You can use them in several ways to create a distinctive landscape area.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour pebblestone in landscaping as a mulch cover for plants. It creates a different look for the landscaping from the more traditional bark mulch or pine needles.

    • 2

Spread pebblestones around stepping stones on a path to help define the walkway. This also helps block the light from the soil and helps keep weeds from growing.

    • 3

Dig a curving and winding space through the landscape and line it with pebblestones. Place a few medium-sized river rocks in the space to create the illusion of a dried-up creek bed. You can plant vegetation along the edges to enhance the illusion.

Form a design with different shades of pebblestone. Install landscape edging to form the various shapes, and then fill in with the shades of pebbles. Dig 4-inch-wide trenches 2 inches deep for the edging material. Place the edging in the trenches and tap anchor stakes through the holes to secure it at the base. Fill the trenches in, and then add the pebbles.
