Determine where the property lines are. You can do this by checking with your local planning department or by having your land professionally surveyed.

Convert the information you gathered regarding your property lines to the dimensions of the map. For example, your property line on the left side might be 15 feet away from your home. One inch on your map might equal 5 feet in real life. Three inches will represent 15 feet on your map.

Draw the lines on the map according to your conversions. For example, since every 3 inches on your page equals 15 feet, the property line on the left side of your home would be drawn 3 inches from the structure that represents the house.

Use a ruler to ensure you draw the property lines on the map are straight and to make sure you get all the measurements exact.
