How to Set Up a Drip Sprayer

Drip sprayers allow gardeners a means of regulating and maximizing water use in the garden by targeting the water to the base of plants. The two types of drip systems are above ground and underground. The underground system is useful if your landscaping is permanent such as a completed flowerbed or for pool landscaping. Above ground systems are ideal for backyard gardens with temporary or seasonal landscaping where the actual dynamic changes regularly.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the amount of drip system supplies you'll need for the job by measuring your yard. The drip hoses cover a 3-foot wide strip. If your home garden is 9 feet wide, you'll need three hoses.

    • 2

Attach the drip regulator to your faucet nozzle. You'll want to give it a firm tightening with a wrench.

    • 3

Connect the PVC pipes to run along the top of your drip irrigation system. Add joints to each place where a hose will start with end caps between each joint and hose. This allows you the freedom to water individual rows as desired.

    • 4

Connect the hoses and position a drip spout at the base of each plant in your garden.
