What Colors of Siding Look Good With Brick?

Brick is one of the oldest and most durable home building materials, and it is available in a variety of warm and cool shades to match your decorative preferences. If you're building your brick home from the ground up, the siding you select can directly complement the brick hue for a monochromatic look or contrast slightly to make the siding a noticeable part of the exterior decor.
  1. Light, Warm Neutrals

    • Neutral colors on the warm side of the color wheel complement a home made from brown or red brick well. The warm-hue scheme gives the entire home exterior a warm and welcoming feel. For instance, Tuscan Gold or Khaki Brown by James Hardie can provide a monochromatic theme on a home with wheat- or honey-colored bricks. To make the light-colored siding stand out, it's best to add it to a home built with dark bricks. Dark-copper or ruby-red bricks appear even more intense when accented with colors such as Suede or Cypress from CertainTeed Vinyl Siding.

    Light, Cool Neutrals

    • Shades of white and gray make a home constructed with cool-colored bricks appear a little larger, as cool shades have a receding effect. Lakeshore Fern from Mastin Home Exteriors is a soft gray color of siding that matches well with darker gray or light blue bricks, and Stucco Masters' Pepper is a bluish gray that will add a little more color to a white- or ivory-bricked home. These siding colors also provide contrast to a brick house with a cool color scheme if darker hues are added to the home as accents. For instance, the light gray siding makes a black or navy-blue door appear more pronounced in color.

    Medium Warm Colors

    • Deeper warm tones for siding blend nicely with the brick color. For instance, if you're building a Southwestern-style ranch home, siding in colors like Rustic Red from Royal Building Products or James Hardie's Countrylane Red can coordinate with the deep brown or red bricks of the home. To complete the decor theme, painting the porch or front door a shade of burnt orange or turquoise is particularly eye-catching. For a monochromatic warm-toned home, a color like Dakota Common from Hebron Brick Company is fitting for a medium-brown home and adds a purple or gray undertone to the home.

    Medium Cool Colors

    • Intense cool colors, such as Evening Blue or Iron Grey by James Hardie, will add contrasting darkness to a home built with slate-gray bricks. For a home constructed with dark gray or near-black bricks, Hampton Blue by Royal Building Products or KP Building Products' Graphite adds a light hue to the side of the home and prevents the house from looking stark. To maintain the monochromatic look of your cool-colored brick home, Atlantic Aqua or Victorian Grey from Mastin Home Exteriors maintains the soft gray look of the house.
