How to Eliminate Weeds in Gravel Driveways

The benefits of a gravel driveway as opposed to a paved one is that it is much less expensive. The downside is that you are at the mercy of weeds that can potentially be unrelenting. Luckily, it is possible to eliminate weeds in a gravel driveway using items you probably already have. There are a few methods of controlling weeds that are both inexpensive and have minimal impact on the environment.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a tea kettle with water and place on a stove to boil.

    • 2

Pour boiled water onto weeds in your driveway. It is best to pour directly onto the root of the weed to achieve the maximum effect. This method is actually more effective than many store bought chemical herbicides.

    • 3

Pour vinegar into a spray bottle. Both white and cider vinegar will work for this job.

    • 4

Spray the weeds with the vinegar. This method is ideal for younger weeds but will also work on matured weeds if you reapply the solution enough times. It is best to spray the vinegar early in the morning and on a day which rain is not expected.

Pour rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and apply to weeds. This method eliminates weeds by drying them out. Again it is best to spray early in the morning and when rain is not expected.
