Instructions

Decide where to install your walkway on the grass or dirt in your yard, and then use a pencil and paper to draw a picture showing the path of the walkway and the pattern of the pavers. Use your measuring tape and chalk spray to make an outline of the walkway on the grass in your yard. Use your shovel to dig out the entire walkway 6 inches deep, and then use a level to make sure it is aligned, digging out more dirt if necessary.

Use your shovel to fill the walkway with a layer of gravel 1 inch deep, and then tamp it down with the tamper. Use your shovel to fill the walkway with a layer of rock dust 2 inches deep, and then tamp it down with the tamper. Press the plastic guides along the outside edges of the walkway between the gravel and the grass.

Place your pavers onto the rock dust in the pattern of your choice. Align the pavers using the level and add rock dust underneath the pavers when necessary. Add rock dust on top of the pavers and sweep the dust into the cracks between the pavers. Repeat this process until the cracks are firmly packed with rock dust.
