How to Level Loose Dirt With a Box Blade

A box blade or box scraper attaches to a tractor and is used to move and break the earth, such as small hills and gravel. It can be used to smooth, grade, scrape, level, clear or landscape a yard or driveway. You can use a box blade to fill in potholes, make your driveway look good as new or even prep your yard prior to laying sod.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove all obstacles from area you intend to grade. Read all safety advisory manuals given with equipment prior to starting operation.

    • 2

Lower box blade or scraper to desired operating position. Lift the depth-stop lever and move it against the control lever. Push the depth-stop lever down to lock blade in place.

    • 3

Level by making shallow cuts into the hills or higher ground and moving the loose dirt into the low areas or potholes. Drive carefully over uneven terrain.
