Lay out one garden hose along the pathway route, creating graceful broad curves. Place the wooden stakes at right angles to the hose along the route.
Place the second hose at the opposite end of the stakes to create a pathway of even width. Mark both edges of the pathway with landscape paint.
Remove grass if necessary, and dig soil to a depth of 4 inches. Smooth the soil with the rake. Cut landscaping fabric to fit, and lay it over the pathway.
Distribute the pea gravel over the pathway route, level with the ground grade, to complete the path.
