Security Lights Instructions

Switch on the existing exterior lighting. Ensure it is working. Turn it off again. Turn the circuit off to that light at the breaker box.

Take the light bulb out of the old fixture. Remove the old light fixture by unscrewing it from its electrical box. Hold the ends of an electrical tester against the wiring inside the old light fixture to ensure the electrical power is truly off.

Twist the wire nuts in a counterclockwise direction to disconnect the old fixture from the electrical box. Set the old fixture aside.

Center the mounting box for the new fixture in place over the electrical box. Attach it to the eave with mounting screws that come with the security light.

Match the colors of wires from the house with the wiring on the security light. Match black to black wires and white to white. Twist wire nuts clockwise on the ends of each pair of wires. Connect the ground wires, which are either green or copper, to the grounding screw in the light.

Position the rubber gasket inside the security light. This keeps moisture out of the wiring. Set the light in place on its mounting box. Place screws in the predrilled holes to secure the light to the mounting box.

Turn the power back on to the security light. Follow the directions that come with your light for setting the sensitivity to motion as well how long the brighter light stays on when activated. Aim the light where you want to detect motion.
