How to Mold Cement for Garden Paving

Molding cement into pavers to use in your garden can provide many functions, from retaining a wall and edging a flower bed to making steppingstones or laying a walkway or patio. While you can purchase pavers at most home and garden centers, making your own can cost less and allow you to personalize the look of your paving. Decide the size and shape of the paving stones you want to mold before you begin and know how many pavers you want for your project.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the cement mix into a mixing pan or wheelbarrow. Follow the instructions on your brand of cement and slowly add the amount of water listed on the packaging. Mix the water and cement with an old shovel or hoe.

    • 2

Spray a coating of nonstick cooking spray along the inside of disposable cake or pie pans. The shape and depth of the pans will determine the size pavers you produce. Spread a trash bag out on a flat surface and place the sprayed pans on the bag.

    • 3

Fill each prepared pan with cement mix to the top. Continue to fill the pans and create more mix as needed until each pan is full.

    • 4

Tap the sides of each pan to release air bubbles to the surface. Leave the cement to set up for three to four days.

    • 5

Turn each pan upside down and pop the pavers free. Leave the pavers for a week to fully cure. Use your paving stones in the landscaping as desired.
