Types of Round Gravel

Gravel is loose rock that has two classes of subcategories: pebbles and granules.) It is less than 64 millimeters at its largest dimension, and in its smallest dimension is larger than two millimeters. Gravel is used for roadways, gardens, walkways and to enhance ground coverings. Irregular or round in shape, gravel provides s way to establish a new look within an area.

    • This gravel is shaped by natural sources like rivers and then harvested. The stone has a smooth texture due to years of water erosion. This gravel is often found in gardens and along borders.

    Black Pebbles

    • These gravel stones are a combination of pebbles in a variety of colors and patterns. Black pebbles are helpful to contain water buildup and enable additional yard drainage as necessary. These stones are used in exterior decorations including borders, edgings and ponds. According to the Redding Elite Landscaping, black pebbles brighten gardens by catching and reflect sunlight.

    Shasta Pink

    • This stone is available in several shades of pink. It is used in garden borders, as well as plant displays. Shasta Pink gravel is know to reduce soil erosion by supporting landscape borders.

    Pea Gravel

    • Pea gravel range from one-eighth of an inch up to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The gravel is translucent or in yellow, white, beige, and gray. Pea gravel is often used in ponds, walkways, gardens and as ground covering.
