A flowerpot is not always necessary to display your flowers and plants. Why not try using some other types of containers such as an old watering can or bucket. Buckets are a great addition today as they can be purchased in many different colors, thus creating a beautiful backdrop to your entryway or walkway. To use an old watering can or bucket, drill holes in the bottom and add a layer of rock or broken clay pots before adding the dirt. Use a coordinating dish under the can or bucket to catch water if using this inside the house.
When creating an entryway or walkway display, try working with plants of different heights for a more visually pleasing effect. Place the shorter plants at the front and the taller plants at the back. Use different heights of containers also. Using the same height container can make the display look repetitive and boring. You are tying to achieve an entryway or walkway that people want to approach.
Work with different colors of plants when arranging them in an entryway or walkway. Coordinate your containers with the plants themselves. Don't use bright colors if you have a bright color on your house. But do use bright colors if you have a muted color on your house. Blend the colors when arranging the containers and don't put all the same color together.
A good way to enhance your entryway or walkway is by adding just one plant that really stands out. Place this in a striking container and add a little animal statue or token to the plant. Plants for this will depend on the climate you live in but you can use such plants as a climbing rose, any type of palm or a bonsai tree.
