How to Figure a Unilock Sidewalk

The Unilock Company manufactures a number of products that fall into the category of pavers which can be used for sidewalk projects. Pavers are manufactured products similar to brick but designed for the construction of flat projects such as sidewalks or patios. Different Unilock products offer different area coverage. The calculations are all based on the square footage of your project.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the sidewalk project. Sidewalks are commonly long rectangles or groups of long rectangles, if the sidewalk turns. Measure both the length and width of the project.

    • 2

Calculate the square footage of the sidewalk by multiplying the length times the width. If the sidewalk is made up of separate sections, calculate each individually and add together for the total area of the project.

    • 3

Divide the area of the sidewalk project by the bundle size of the chosen Unilock product. For example, the Avante Ashlar Unilock paver provides 90.75 sq. ft. of coverage in each bundle of pavers. If the project measures 900 sq. ft., a minimum of 10 bundles of pavers is necessary. The Camelot paver is shipped in 75.96 sq. ft. bundles.

    • 4

Add about 15 percent to the order to allow for waste in cutting pavers along the edge of the sidewalk.
