How to Make a Candy-Striped Bracelet

A candy-striped design is reminiscent of candy-striper uniforms, which were white with candy red pinstripes. Incorporating this classic detail into your jewelry and fashion creations gives you the ability to add splashes of color, texture and vintage appeal. Making a candy-striped bracelet serves as a fun way to delve into designing your own jewelry pieces.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread out the sheet of waxed paper on a flat surface. Roll out the fimo clay until it is approximately 1/8 inch thick, 1 inch wide and 8 inches long.

    • 2

Cut along the edges of the rolled-flat clay to create straight, even edges. Peel the shaped strip of clay from the waxed paper carefully.

    • 3

Hold a can of nonstick cooking spray 5 inches from the surface of the coffee can. Make sure the label is peeled from the metal can. Coat the surface of the can liberally.

    • 4

Wrap the shaped strip of clay around the width of the coffee can. This helps it keep a cuffed form. Place the can on the center of a baking sheet.

    • 5

Bake at 450 degrees for 25 minutes. During this time, the clay will set and harden. Turn off the oven and allow the bracelet to cool for one hour. Remove it from the can by sliding it off. The nonstick spray makes this easier. The result is a white cuff bracelet in a standard one-size-fits-all measurement of 8 inches.

    • 6

Dip the tip of a paintbrush into the candy-apple red acrylic artist's paint. Create a thin line down the center of the bracelet running from one end of the cuff to the other. Repeat this at either side of the central line. Let the painted bracelet dry for 20 minutes.

Hold the can of spray craft glaze 5 inches from the surface of the bracelet. Press firmly and spray a fine mist of the glossy coating over the entire surface of the bangle cuff. Let it dry for 30 minutes before sliding over your wrist.
