How to Use the Pathmate Walk Mate

Paths and walkways help create the landscape of your outdoor space. A well planned path can lead the eye around your yard and help you navigate the space with ease. You can make your own pathways and walks using cement molds. The molds come in a variety of styles to simulate different types of stone and brick paths. Pathmate molds will allow you to plan and pour your cement walk with ease. You can lay the cement right onto the ground surface.

Lay the mold at the start of the walkway. Cut along the edges of the mold with a trowel to mark the placement. Move the mold so that it butts against the end of the first mold location and mark the perimeter of it with a trowel. Continue marking the path in this manner until you are satisfied with the overall layout of the walkway.

Pour quick-setting cement mix into a wheelbarrow. Add water in small amounts and mix it with a hoe until you achieve a stiff batter-like consistency. Mix one bag at a time. One 60-lb. bag will typically fill one mold.

Position the mold at the start of the walkway. Line up the marks in the soil with the edges of the mold. Trowel cement into each space inside the mold until it is filled. Remove the mold and smooth over the surface of the cement with a trowel until you are satisfied with the overall appearance.

Place the mold in the second marked space and repeat the procedure in step 3 to pour the second section of the walkway. Continue in this manner until you have completed the walkway. Allow the cement to cure for two to three weeks before use.
