Pick up all of the loose debris from the gravel with gloved hands or rake it into a pile with a rake before picking it up. Discard in a trash bag.
Scoop up the gravel with a shovel and dump it into 5-gallon buckets. Fill the buckets approximately halfway.
Stick the nozzle of a garden hose, attached to a water faucet, into the bottom of one of the buckets. Turn on the faucet to the highest setting.
Stir the gravel with the hose, as the bucket fills with water to clean it. Allow the water to run in the bucket until the water that's spilling out looks clear. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the other buckets of gravel.
Secure a piece of landscaping fabric into your lawn with metal stakes or some other tool. Ensure that the piece of landscaping fabric is large enough to dump the gravel upon to dry.
Dump the cleaned gravel onto the landscaping fabric to dry. The water will drain through, but the gravel will stay on the fabric. Spread out the rocks with the tines of a rake. Be careful not to snag the fabric.
Shovel the gravel up and dump it into a wheelbarrow after it dries.
