Instructions

    • 1

Outline the area where you plan to install your brick path with white spraypaint. Remove all existing ground cover with a sod stripper. Excavate the entire path area with a spade to a depth of 7 inches.

    • 2

Spread a base of aggregate over the entire area to make a 4-inch base. Pack the base of aggregate material down with a plate compactor or hand tamp to make it level.

    • 3

Cover the aggregate base with a layer of coarse sand. Make the sand level using a rake to spread it out loosely.

    • 4

Place edging on the edges of the path to act as a barrier that will hold the bricks in place.

    • 5

Arrange bricks along the edge of the patch against the edging and then fill in the rest of the path with bricks. Place a layer of sand over the entire brick path and then press the sand into the crevices between the bricks with a plate compactor. Sweep sand into any remaining crevices.
