How to Decorate Around Mexican Pavers

Mexican pavers are made from terra-cotta, which is an earthy, orange-red color. These tiles are commonly used for pathways with Mexican or Spanish-inspired architecture or they can be used to provide a pop of color outdoors. Decorating around Mexican pavers can help showcase their color and add a special touch to your pathway.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour blue and green gravel around the sides of the pavers. Blue and green provide an effective contrast for the terra-cotta color. Use a rake to spread it into place. Sweep off the tiles to remove any excess gravel.

    • 2

Plant yuccas along the pathway. The vibrant green of the plants will also help to accentuate the color of the tile and give the area an authentic Mexican touch.

    • 3

Place two large cobalt blue pots at the end of the pathway to serve as a focal point. Set them on either side of the path. Plant cacti or other desert plants in the pots.

    • 4

Place smaller terra-cotta pots around the cobalt blue pots. Fill them with vibrantly colored plants to bring variety into your landscape design.

    • 5

Place a colored outdoor rug between the two large pots. Look for a Mexican- or Spanish-inspired design that includes cobalt blue, green and terra-cotta. This will serve as the visual end point for your pathway.
