Secure each PVC pipe into a vise to keep it stable while you cut.
Cut each PVC pipe to any length between four and 12 inches, using a PVC pipe cutter or hacksaw. Use different pipe diameters and lengths for an eclectic look, or stick to a uniform length and diameter for a more structured aesthetic.
Sand the cut edge of PVC pipe to make it smooth to the touch.
Dig a 2-inch deep trench where you want the PVC pipes to go, using a garden spade. Make the trench as wide as the longest diameter of PVC pipe.
Place PVC pipes along the trench with the circle side up. Lightly tap the tops of the pipes to secure them into the ground.
Pack soil around the PVC pipes for added support. Use the soil you removed when digging the trench.
