Measure the width of the pathway at several points to determine if it is the same. Widen the path at narrower areas if necessary for a consistent width.
Dig a trench that is about 4 inches deep along the entire length of the pathway. The trench only needs to be wide enough to easily fit the flexible landscaping material into it.
Position the flexible landscape edging down into the trench. Leave about ½ inch of the edging showing at the top of the ground. Bend the flexible edging along the curves of the pathway to keep it following the trench.
Pound the stakes into the ground to hold the edging in place. Check the height of the edging as you go, pulling it up as necessary to maintain the ½-inch height.
Fill in dirt behind the edging to help hold it in place. Press down on the dirt with your foot so it is firmly pressed against the edging.
