• The MTD Gold 24BG57M3004 is the largest log splitter sold by MTD as of June, 2011. It measures 47.5 inches long, 41.2 inches wide and 49.5 inches tall. It can operate either horizontally or vertically. It weighs 585 pounds. The 24BG57M3004 is built around a 208-horsepower, 190cc MTD Gold engine with a recoil start. MTD sells the 24BG57M3004 bundled with log cradles and jack stands.

A5DMK

• The A5DMK is the smallest of the log splitters manufactured by MTD. It sits horizontally and is built around a 123cc OHV engine with a cast-iron cylinder sleeve and MTD's OHV technology. MTD says its OHV technology is meant to ensure improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions and quieter operation. The A5DMK has a splitting force of eight tons and a log capacity of 19 inches. It has a 1.5-gallon reservoir for its hydraulic fluid, a hardened steel plate wedge and 8-inch wheels. Additional features include a retractable cylinder, grab handle and recoil start.

H510L

• The H510L is slightly larger than the AD5MK. It is built around a 190-cc Briggs and Stratton 675cc engine and can operate either vertically or horizontally. The H510L has a 25-inch log capacity. It features a three-gallon Dextron III oil reservoir, a 19-second cycle time, a cast-iron splitting wedge and automatic cylinder return capability. A forward ram control lever controls the splitter. The H510L comes with a log cradle and a wood stripper plate.
