Attach a rigging tool such as a block to the loop section of the Loopie Sling. For example, to attach a block, turn the knob or lever of the block in a counterclockwise direction to open it. Swing the side place open. Place the loop section of the sling around the upper sheave, or the smaller, axle-like part. Swing the side plate back into position and turn the knob or lever clockwise. Firmly hand tighten. Different brands and types of tools work differently, so consult the manufacturer's directions to attach them to the sling.
Hold the Loopie Sling by the splice area in one hand. The splice of the sling is the area where the free end of the rope passes through a woven housing to create the endless loop.
Adjust the sling's loop size so that it is slightly more than twice the circumference of the tree trunk or limb. Pull on the free end of the Loopie Sling to make the loop smaller. To make the loop larger, draw the free end back through the splice by pulling it on the other side of the splice.
Grasp the tool you attached to the sling in one hand. Grasp the opposite side of the loop in your other hand. Stretch the sling between your hands so that the loop is long and flat and the rope sides are parallel.
Pass tool end of the sling around the tree trunk or branch. Pass the tool through the opposite end of the loop. Now the sling should hug the tree snugly and the tool should hang down vertically just beyond where it passes through the loop. This is called a girth hitch. If the loop is not snug against the tree, remove the sling, make the loop smaller and try again. If the loop is not big enough, make the loop larger and try again. It is very important to adjust the sling so that it fits tightly around the tree.
Gather the free end of the sling and tie it to the tree above the tightened sling. Pass the free end around the tree and through a loop you form with the middle of the free part. Repeat this procedure until all of the excess rope is around the tree and out of your way.
