Clear a space in your garden where you would like the cherry bushes to go. Remember, these are rather large plants that can grow up to 4 feet high, so you will need to plant them at least 3 feet apart to create a flowing hedge look.
Plant the bush in a full sunlit or in partially shaded area, as this is where the plant grows best. Using your shovel, dig into the ground roughly 3 feet, creating the hole about 1 to 2 feet wide. Measure the distance to the next plant, placing a distance of 3 to 4 feet between each plant, and dig the second hole (repeat as needed for additional bushes). Place the cherry bush into the ground, pack in the soil around the roots and water it down to pack the ground for sturdiness.
Once you have planted all of your cherry bushes, take some plant stakes and place them in the ground next to each bush. Using nylon string, you can wrap the bushes together against each stake to provide support while the bushes' roots begin to take hold. This can take two to three weeks until you can untie the plants and let them stand alone.
