St. John's wort (Hypericum beanii) is a shrub that features plentiful green leaves, but the flowers that bloom on it during July through September are brilliant yellow. Another green-leaved shrub featuring yellow blossoms is the clove currant (Ribes odoratum), a shrub that blooms in April.
In some cases, hybrids of certain shrubs developed for landscaping possess green and yellow foliage. For example, the glossy abelia shrub cultivar called Golden Anniversary has variegated leaves; the interior of the leaf is a bright shade of green, while the borders are hues of yellow.
The size of a green and yellow shrub usually dictates how a landscaper uses it. Smaller specimens such as the raspberry hybrids known as Aureus grow to between 1 and 2 feet tall, making them suitable as ground cover. Larger types, including the hybrid of smoketree called Golden Spirit, are large enough at between 8 to 15 feet for employment as screens, hedges and specimen plants.
