    Types of Bamboo

    • There are two types of bamboo plants, clumping and non-clumping. The clumping bamboo's runners travel a short distance from the original plant, and the non-clumping bamboo's runners are persistent travelers, according to the American Bamboo Society.

    • To plant bamboo, loosen the top 12 to 18 inches of soil and lay the rhizomes, the root base, about three to four inches below the surface with the eyes, the tip, facing up.
