Instructions

    • 1

Remove all post-emergent oxalis plants with a hoe.

    • 2

Apply a glyphosate herbicide to the remaining pre-emergent oxalis. This type of herbicide is best because it will kill both landscape and turf weeds and is widely available to home gardeners. Follow directions on product, and spread the herbicide evenly over area while using caution not to cover any desired plants.

    • 3

Reapply the herbicide until regrowth has completely stopped. Oxalis is a very stubborn weed and usually requires consistent effort to control.

    • 4

Cover the dying oxalis with newspaper or cardboard. Use several layers to ensure that the entire area is covered.

    • 5

Cover the newspaper with a layer of mulch approximately 2 to 3 inches deep. This will prevent sunlight from reaching from reaching the seedlings and eliminate future germination.
