How do I Secure Things Into a Stone Patio?

A patio can be a nice addition to your home but the wind can blow your patio furniture around. To keep this from happening you can secure the furniture to your patio. If you have a stone patio you can secure anything you like to it by putting an anchor into the stone and bolting the object to the anchor. Just make sure you know exactly where you are going to put your anchors because after you drill the hole it will always be there.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2-inch drop-in anchors
  • Hammer drill
  • 1/2-inch hammer drill bit
  • 1/2-inch bolts with washers
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Hammer
  • Crescent wrench

Instructions

Locate where you want to drill. With the concrete bit and drill, drill a hole in the patio 2 1/2 inches down. Place the drop-in anchor in the hole and tap it until the top is flush with the patio.

Place the screwdriver into the anchor and firmly strike the top of the handle five times with the hammer. This pushes the pin inside the anchor down and pushes out the sides so that it cannot come out of the stone.

Drill a hole in the object that you want to anchor to the patio. Place the hole over the anchor and place a washer over the hole. Insert the bolt through the washer and hole and screw it into the anchor until you cannot screw it anymore. Use the crescent wrench to tighten the bolt.
