How to Decorate a Large Front Porch With Doors on Either Side

Your front porch can be used to greet and entertain guests, even before they step foot inside your home. The porch can also be used for meals or reading a good book during nice weather. Decorate the porch to enhance the style and structure of your home, taking architectural details -- such as a door on both sides of the porch -- into consideration. Create a balanced and symmetrical look with your furniture and accessories for a space that feels inviting and peaceful.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the doors a color that complements the house and front yard. If your house is yellow, paint the doors white. If you have pink and yellow flowers with ivy against a white house you could paint the doors pink, green or yellow. Choose colors that appeal to you. If the doors are not symmetric, create symmetry with other items or paint the doors the same color as the house to help them blend in.

Arrange furniture on the porch between the doors. Use the space for a comfortable sofa with weather-resistant cushions, a swing, rocking chairs, a table or any other combination of furniture that fits and matches your needs. Place a smaller table or chair on the other side of each door if there is room.

Add textiles that pull the space together. Place an indoor-outdoor runner between the doors to create a clear pathway. Choose a color that complements the yard, house and furniture. Plain green or brown is also acceptable.

Accessorize the porch with plant stands or small shelves and tables to hold houseplants, floral arrangements and a tray for your tea or lunch.
