Hard water is a term used to reference water that has a high concentration of certain minerals such as magnesium and calcium. These minerals leave behind deposits often called "lime scale" or "lime stains." If you have a rock fountain through which hard water flows, you are bound to accumulate the white film known as lime scale over time. Luckily, you can remove lime from a stone fountain using gentle, inexpensive products that won't damage your fountain.
