Dig a 3-inch-deep trench around the perimeter of the large rock with a shovel.
Fill the trench with water using a garden hose and let the water soak in. Fill it a second time and let it soak in.
Dig the softened soil out from around the rock with the shovel.
Lay a tire rim on its side next to the rock.
Set the tip of a pry bar down in the trench between the rock and the rim.
Pry down on the pry bar so it comes into contact with the rim. Pry against the rim as the tip of the pry bar lifts the large rock from the dirt.
Set the pry bar down. Gather enough people together to help lift the large rock into a wheelbarrow or yard wagon and then haul it away.
