Pea Gravel Colors

Browns

• Pea gravel is most commonly available is shades of brown, since many stones are naturally this color. When you receive brown pea gravel, you will most likely find that the shades of brown vary slightly, with some pieces darker or lighter colored than the others. This is typical in natural pea gravel, and gives the pea gravel an earthy, natural look that works well with many outdoors and gardening projects. Although individual pebble colors vary, you can choose pea gravel in a wide range of brown tones, from deep, rich browns to light tans. Choose a color that matches both the other stones in your yard and your house color.

Whites

• As many rocks are normally white in color, pea gravel is also commonly available in white shades. Pea gravel can mostly be found in off-white colors, as it is likely that some gray-colored pebbles will find their way into the pea stone mix. White pea stone pebbles may also be mixed with other pea stones colors, such as gray, brown or even black. This mixing gives the pea gravel a more interesting look, especially when it's used for walkways or driveways.

Grays and Blacks

• Pea gravel can be found in many different shades of gray, from almost white to nearly black. Pea stone can also be found in black, although there may be some gray stones mixed in with each batch. Some grays are a mix of light and dark stones, making for a more varied, appealing color scheme. Gray and black pea gravel provides a neutral background for plants or other outdoor decorations.

Brighter Colors

• Depending on what type of rock is used to create the small pea gravel, many surprising colors can be achieved. Blue- or red-tinted rocks create blue- or red-hued pea gravel. The natural color of the rock, and the blend of rocks used in the pea gravel, determine how bright the resulting pea gravel is. Man-made pea gravel or aquarium pea gravel can be found in a variety of even brighter greens, blues, reds and other electric colors. These colors can be fun to choose from, but some brighter colors may clash with the colors of the plants in your garden or the fish in your aquarium.
