How to Change the Oil in a 3100 Dewalt Pressure Washer

The best way to ensure that you get long usage out of your Dewalt 3100 pressure washer is to keep fresh oil inside the engine. Oil lubricates the moving parts and cuts out any metal-to-metal contact that may wear out the engine. Changing the oil in the 3100 is quite simple and takes only a few minutes to do. You don't need to be an expert on small engines to get the job done and no tools are necessary for this task.

Things You'll Need

  • Oil drain pan
  • Small funnel
  • Small engine oil

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the pressure washer and let it run for about five minutes, which is just enough time to heat the oil. When the oil is warm, it's more fluid-like, so it will evacuate the engine better than it would if the oil was cold.

Turn the engine off before you attempt to change the oil.

    • 2

Remove the engine dipstick/oil plug from the back of the engine, near the left wheel.

    • 3

Place an oil pan underneath the oil compartment hole.

    • 4

Tilt the pressure washer back and allow the oil to drain out of the compartment. When the oil is drained completely, tilt it forward. Leave the oil pan in place to protect the ground from spills

    • 5

Insert the small end of a funnel into the oil compartment hole.

    • 6

Pour small engine oil into the engine, occasionally inserting the dipstick to check the oil level as you pour. Stop pouring when the oil reaches the "Full" line on the dipstick.

    • 7

Place the engine dipstick/oil plug on the oil compartment hole.

    • 8

      Remove the oil pan.

    • 9

Turn on the pressure washer and run it for a few minutes so the oil moves throughout the engine and then turn it off. The procedure is now complete.
