Types of Arizona Decorative Rock

Much of the state of Arizona is desert, which requires different landscaping options than locations that have more water. Among the differences in decorating is the yard. Instead of grass, decorative rock can be used to create a desert landscape appearance while still making the yard look pristine and cared for. Different rock options allow for different looks.
  1. Apache Pink

    • Apache pink has a pleasant pink or light red color with rugged desert rock texture. Apache pink brings in a little color to the landscaping and is a medium rock size to make individual rocks easy to see.

    Arizona Beige

    • Arizona beige is a basic rock option for desert landscaping. The rock is grey and beige and gives the overall appearance of regular desert rocks. The color is similar to the natural landscape of the state's deserts. Rocks are medium in size and have a desert rock texture.

    Desert Mauve

    • Desert mauve is a light pinkish-purple colored decorative rock option. It has a mix of light purple, light pink, gray and white to produce a light mauve color.

    River Rocks

    • River rocks are smooth and rounded or oval. The rocks come in a wide range of colors and sizes, but all are smoothed by moving water. These rocks break from the desert appearance and are best suited for fountains or creating contrast.

    Sand

    • Sand is very fine-grained rock used for decorative purposes. Arizona sand is a basic brownish red with specks of quartz found in the deserts of Arizona. Sand is best for smaller spaces or when lined with larger rocks around the decoration area.
