How to Use a Landscape Rake to Collect Branches

Cleaning up your yard is part of regular outdoor maintenance. This includes raking fallen leaves in autumn and picking up broken branches after a windstorm. Picking up fallen branches individually can take hours, depending on the size of your yard and how many branches fell. Using a landscape rake to sweep them into piles will trim the amount of time it takes to pick them up significantly.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on gardening gloves to protect your hands from any sharp points on broken branches and to avoid splinters.

    • 2

Hold the rake by its handle with both hands and sweep it across the grass as if you were raking leaves. Do this over the section of the lawn containing the broken and fallen branches. Continue until all of the branches are in a pile.

    • 3

Pick up the broken branches by hand and place them in a yard-waste trash bag to be discarded.
