Landscaping Around Cottage Sheds

A cottage shed adds character and charm and serves as a focal point in the yard. Implementing a well-designed landscape around it can accentuate the structure. Consider how much maintenance you'd like to put into any plants you locate there and how you would like to use the area around the shed.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a path to your shed from the garden or patio. Paving stones would add an old-fashioned touch in keeping with the cottage look of the shed. Add a wooden gate or arbor at the entrance of the path, if the shed is located at a distance from the home.

    • 2

Flank the door of the cottage shed with container plants or small shrubs. Add flowers in window boxes to accent the cottage style of the shed.

    • 3

Place a trellis for climbing plants on the side of the shed or suspend hanging planters from the roof. Another option is to plant a small herb garden by the side of the shed enclosed with a small wooden fence.

    • 4

Place a table and chairs near the shed. The area could be used in lieu of a patio for relaxing or entertaining. Or set up a work table on which you can set plants you’re tending or transplanting.
